The Welcome Home Organization & Gems of Jackson Childcare & Education Center presented a session on "Growing Minds & Cultivating the Community"

It was an amazing experience at the Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children 2024 ANNUAL EARLY CHILDHOOD CONFERENCE. The Welcome Home Organization_Jackson/Albion Michigan and Gems of Jackson Child Care & Education Center was selected to present a session about Growing Minds & Cultivating Communities. We were able to discuss the work that we are doing in the City of Jackson as well as our partnerships across the state.

Thank you to our board members (From Left to Right), Mrs. Cressie Vargo (Focus Area: Family Engagement), Ms. Candace Graham (Focus Area: Educational Partnerships), the Assistant Director, of Gems of Jackson, Mrs. Angela Evans (Focus Area: Community Engagement), and our Executive Director, Mrs. Vittoria Jimerson (Focus Area: Building Community with Public/Private Partnerships).

We were also able to gain some amazing knowledge from the other presentations that included: Advocacy, More Than Education: Creating Community in Schools for Families in Poverty, and The Changing Landscape of Early Childhood Teacher Education: A Series of Round Table Discussions hosted by Michigan ACCESS.

Our goal is to make childcare more accessible to all families and bring a level of engagement and advocacy for the advancement of the children and families in our community!!!
